Welcome to SABOD
We strive to be recognised as the leading association in the country with regards to the development of dance and we aim to instill a passion and a love of dance in all its aspects in our members, their pupils and the public at large.
We don’t believe that you have to be better than everyone else, we believe that you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.
The History of SABOD
The association was started in 1934 under the name of the SOUTH AFRICAN DANCE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION with the aim of providing dance training in the various dance styles.
In 1992, the various branches of the SADTA decided to split so that each branch could concentrate on their speciality of dance. In that year, the SADTA (Stage Branch), was registered as a non-profit company in terms of Section 21 of the old Companies Act.
In 2015 the SADTA (Stage Branch) rebranded and renamed the association the SOUTH AFRICAN BODY OF DANCE. (SABOD)
